Zscaler is an internet security application designed to protect the school network and devices from Cyber Security threats and other malicious attacks from the internet.
It is a Department requirement that Zscaler is installed on ALL Department staff provided devices providing anytime/anywhere internet security.
Logging into Zscaler gives staff less restrictive internet browsing restrictions then student devices.
Zscaler logs basic user activity and the logs are only utilised in order to analyse information to assist in finding the source of any cyber attacks. It does not record key strokes or every website page a user looks at, just key information to identify any potential security breaches.
Zscaler collects usernames, network name and the main website accessed by users.
For example:
If you are reading the Herald Sun online website. it will log the following:
- www.heraldsun.com.au (not any article read or other page information)
- your username
- the wifi network name (EduSTAR) and its location (Wallarano Primary School)
Details of the website page content, banking transactions, emails, or other content identified as safe are not collected.
